Tropical rainforests are absolutely essential for human and animal life on earth. Each year, approximately 13 million hectares of rain forest are destroyed and lost forever.
In contrast to the alarming rainforest destruction, German forests are growing each year. According to the third German National Forest Inventory (2012), German forests increased in area by 50,000 hectares between 2002 and 2012. 32% of Germany’s total surface area is covered with forests (a total of 11.5 million hectares).
The German forestry industry is operated in an extremely sustainable manner and is a global model for ecology.
